ARC REVIEW The Heat is On by Katie Rose

More delicious Boys of Summer! Katie Rose bring us another tale of the New Jersey Sonics. I love this series it is one of my favorite sports romance series. In every book the guys are different, and I mean personality-wise they are very diverse in who and what they are. The same goes for her girls. Prime example this one, Tracy is a divorced mother of four. The Heat is On is a great second chance romance between two college sweethearts.

Connor Jackson made a decision back in college, he chose a baseball career over the love of his life. He never stopped loving her the entire time even though she obviously moved on and married someone else. Now Connor is expecting to retire soon he was traded to his home team The Sonics and now that he is back home he plans to pursue a relationship with the divorced Tracy Coleman.

Tracy is a struggling mother of four rambunctious kids, two boys two girl. She has been divorced for about a year and has no plans to start dating again, until she finds out her old college boyfriend is back in town. Tracy's parents always liked Connor and treat her and the kids to a Sonics game. After the game Tracy approaches Connor, not one to waste time Connor asks for her phone number. Tracy thinking yeah right he's not going to call me gives it to him and is surprised when he calls and asks for a date. Not quite knowing how to breach the subject of her having four kids, she just doesn't tell him. Afraid of what he would think and afraid he would dump her again because she has four kids. Even after he finds out she has kids she is afraid of letting him get close to her kids they lost their father to another family she doesn't want their hearts to get broken again. After getting over the shock of finding out Tracy has kids Connor is quick to step up to the plate arranging dates where they can come along and trying to show Tracy he is up for the challenge. But things never go as planned and the kids father comes back into the picture and tries to ruin the relationship for Tracy.

Overall, I really enjoyed this one. I always like reading about single mothers finding a second chance at love and Connor is one hot cookie.

ARC REVIEW Line of Scrimmage by Desiree Holt

Line of Scrimmage is book two in Desiree Holt's Game On series. If you couldn't tell by the cover it's about a football star (duh) and a woman who has written off all football players as playas after a really bad experience. In that aspect it's a typical trope but as this is Desiree Holt nothing is just typical. Desiree Holt is one of the best when it comes to erotica, this story is tame compared to some of her other stories, but a good read none the less. I'm not big on football in any aspect; unless it's Susan Elizabeth Phillips and her Chicago Stars universe. When it comes to sports romance I'm more of a baseball/hockey kinda girl. With that said I really enjoyed this one. I loved the characters and the story.

Jake Russell and Erin Bass had one hot night. An instant undeniable attraction had both of them acting out of the norm. But the next morning Jake wants to talk about starting an actual relationship and Erin blows him off. She tells Jake there's not need to pretend he want a real relationship he got what he wanted and so did she, there is no need to prolong the inevitable. Jake is thrown for a loop that she thinks that unlike some, most, of the other guys in the NFL he has never been one of those guys. He is hurt and upset that she would think that about him, but instead of staying and trying to change her mind he leaves. The common link between Jake and Erin is Jake's sister Ivy who is also Erin's best friend. Ivy arranged for them to meet knowing they were perfect for each other and now Ivy is confused that what should have been a perfect thing between to people is now just not there.

Some time later, Jake is playing a fantastic first game of the season and out of nowhere bam, he gets injured. He got hit so hard it took him out for the rest of the season, and it's the type of injury that just might take him out of the game permanently. In need of around the clock care Ivy hires the perfect person.

Erin is living on the remains of her last paycheck; the spa where she use to manage changed owners and fired everyone. Ivy offers her the job of being the personal assistant to a very important client of hers and man who needs help around the house and make sure he gets all the care he needs and keeping unwanted people from harassing him. Erin is hesitant but her dwindling bank account and a very generous salary has her accepting the job. Unaware that her new boss is the one man she turned away, for fear of losing her heart to him.

It's a rocky start for Jake and Erin, she wants to quit but she isn't heartless enough to leave Jake without someone to help him. Erin is good for Jake, she helps him in the healing process the stages of grief. Jake is just as good for Erin he has her realize not every football player is a womanizing douchebag like her ex. It's no surprise they fall in love as quickly as they do. Jake never forgot how Erin made him feel that night and how she makes him feel now, but he's afraid now of not being man enough for her. Erin knew she could easily lose her heart to Jake and that is one reason she pushed him away at the beginning but seeing him through this life changing event and learning more about him and his past and everything he has done makes falling in love easy. Because now that she has him she won't let him push her away, no matter what.

Overall, this was a good read. There was a lot of character development with Jake, there's definitely more to him than meets the eye. Erin pretty much is what she appears to be, her big revelation of her painful past was not that shocking. The story overall was enjoyable.

ARC REVIEW How to Seduce a Scot by Christy English

Christy English's first book of the Broadsword and Ballrooms series, How to Seduce a Scot, is an adorable book. I'm new to Christy English so I wasn't sure what to expect from it. What I got was a honorable Highlander, a feisty sister and a stubborn English rose  all of this together makes an amusing story and a series I will be keeping an eye out for. Throughout the book you have the Waters family insulting the "bloody British" despite the fact that their mother is British. Mary Elizabeth is definitely the comic relief in the story, she makes the book even though it's about Alex and Catherine. The main problem is Catherine, she is so stubborn it gets aggravating, it makes you want to scream " just trust him!" The romance was a little too slow burning, there is an attraction right off, the chemistry is there they just forever to really act on it.

Alex Waters' mother told him he was to find a husband for his tomboyish sister and instructions not to fall in love with with an English girl. So what happens Mary Elizabeth's first and only friend captivated Alex at first glance. She looked like an angel and henceforth Alex refers to her as his Angel. But he knows better than to fall for such a lady he is just the youngest son and she deserves more than that. Catherine Middlebrook needed a rich husband and she only has this season to find him, if only Alex Waters hadn't of gotten under her skin. Catherine's need is because her mother is horrible with money and has managed to spend it all and unless Catherine marries well they will have nothing. When Catherine discovers they are worse off than she first thought she decides she must settle for the placid sutor who does absolutely nothing for her, instead of the sexy honorable highlander that boils her blood and makes her heart race. Silly Catherine.

The ending wrapped up all nice and neat in a pretty bow, but I think overall it was a cute read. The secondary characters definitely won me over in the story and look forward to their stories.

ARC REVIEW Jane Ashford: The Bargain and Heir to the Duke

The Bargain was originally released in 1997 and was re-released 2014. It's nothing what I expected and was pleasantly surprised by it. I haven't read Jane Ashford before and really enjoyed it. It has a little bit of everything I like romance, mystery, adventure. It's a tantalizing misadventure between an unconventional couple, the youngest son of a Duke and the daughter of an actress. It was an amusing read it's not everyday you read a romance where they are hunting ghosts at the request of the Prince Regent.

The youngest son of the Duke of Langford is the black sheep of the family. Lord Alan Gresham is the scholar of the family a scientist studying the properties of light; and as much as he hates London and socializing he must answer the Prince Regent summons. What the Prince Regent wants is preposterous, he wants Alan to find the ghost of a recently deceased actress. The ghost has inevitable crashed every party the Regent has thrown and is making him a laughing stock. The first party Alan attends the ghost shows up but he's not the only one chasing it. Ariel Harding was away at school when her mother committed suicide, she has come to London to deal with what is left of her mother's things and with the whisperings of her mother haunting the Regent she herself sneeks in to try and and see her mother. Ariel makes a bargain with Alan that she will help him in his search of the ghost if he helps her find out what really happened to her mother. But their investigation reveals more about Ariel's past then just what happened to her mother, and brings together the stuffy scholar and the daughter of an actress. Ariel does more than just win over Alan's heart but his families as well, with her wisdom from plays she advises Alan's older brothers and helps them with their love life problems.

Overall it was an entertaining and enjoyable read.

Heir to the Duke is officially the first book of the Duke's Sons series, however it is the same family and brothers from The Bargain. The Bargain even has a bit about Nate and Violet and their engagement. Nate was perfect and Violet was aggravating but still entertaining. This one is about growth and discovery.

Violet's entire life has been ruled by her tyrannical, hateful grandmother. Violet's marriage to Viscount Hargrove will finally give her the freedom she needs to be who she wants to be. Nathaniel Gresham thought the shy and prim Violet would eventually make the perfect duchess, but soon after the wedding Violet began to change. Nate loves his home he loves working with his tenants and learning everything he needs to before he steps up to the title as Duke of Langford, but he also wants his new wife to be happy and agrees to her simple request of visiting Brighton for their wedding trip. But once they are their he doesn't know what happened to the shy and prim woman he married, he likes the changes he just doesn't want to lose her to the hypocritical ton society.

Violet made a list of things she has always wanted to do and was never before allowed to do. New wardrobe, check; fire her old critical termagant ladies maid, check; swim in the ocean, check; harmlessly flirt with a man, well maybe she should rethink that one. Violet's ways soon have her grandmother back at her doorstep trying to control her again. She also has an unwanted admirer trying a little to hard to seduce her. All the while Nate is enjoying his wife's transformation but he wants to go back home. Violet isn't going to let her grandmother take over her life again but a secret buried deep in her parents past comes out and Violet is scared she might lose everything including Nate. Violet just has to find her backbone and stand up to everyone and be who she wants.

Overall, this was a good read. I enjoyed it despite saying to myself throughout the whole book Dammit Violet.

TASTY TOUR My American Duchess by Eloisa James

Blurb
The arrogant Duke of Trent intends to marry a well-bred Englishwoman. The last woman he would ever consider marrying is the adventuresome Merry Pelford— an American heiress who has infamously jilted two fiancés.

But after one provocative encounter with the captivating Merry, Trent desires her more than any woman he has ever met. He is determined to have her as his wife, no matter what it takes. And Trent is a man who always gets what he wants.

The problem is, Merry is already betrothed, and the former runaway bride has vowed to make it all the way to the altar. As honor clashes with irresistible passion, Trent realizes the stakes are higher than anyone could have imagined. In his battle to save Merry and win her heart, one thing becomes clear:

All is fair in love and war.

I love Eloisa James! She is a master. Even when I don't like the story I have to like the book because it is well written and beautiful. This book I loved! I love the concept of Americans dealing with the stuffy British Ton, especially just twenty-five our so years after the War of Independence. I can see how this book screamed at Eloisa James to be more than just a novella. The full length novel is a wonderful and emotional story.

Merry is quick to love, and Trent is determined to marry Merry. But therein lies the problem, Merry has jilted two fiancees already and unless she wants to be an old maid she must marry soon, she has vowed her next engagement will be her last. But the more time she spends with her fiance the less she likes him and the more she falls in love with Trent. They meet quite accidentally not knowing who they were never properly introducing themselves, but one unconventional conversation and that's all it took. Trent was convinced he would marry her, even after he found out she was already engaged and tried to tell himself any American would do, his mind and libido kept going back to Merry. Even Merry was trying to take her mind off of Trent, spending more time with her fiance and making herself love him, but then there was George. Of course the adorable bull dog puppy was only the beginning it got so bad that Merry finally coincided she could not marry the man. She would go home and plan her gardens and die an old maid. But Trent had other ideas.

It really was an adorable book. Trent and Merry were very well written. And as always with Eloisa James books I laughed, I cried and I felt completely satisfied at the end of the book.

Goodreads Link:

English ladies never spoke to strangers, so he probably expected her to cower like a chambermaid. In that case, she would disappoint him. No American flinched before an Englishman, noble or otherwise.
Head high, she met his eyes straight on, and sure enough, a distinct flash of surprise crossed his face. “Please forgive me for disturbing you, sir,” she said, curtsying. “I mistook you for one of my countrymen.”
She could scarcely believe she’d felt pity for the man, because now she had the impression that she was sharing a small space with a large predator. She fell back a step with the aim of returning the ballroom, but he moved forward and blocked her flight.
“There are a great many Americans in London this season, are there not?” he asked.
Goodness sakes, the man was ferocious looking. It was difficult to imagine who would have had the nerve to affront him; in comparison, her combative former fiancé Bertie Pike was as placid as a cow.
He had made her so rattled that she spoke before she thought. “According to The Times, there are at least three times as many Americans in London as there were a decade ago.”
Her former governess, Miss Fairfax, had always said that no man wished to be thought ignorant, but Merry was certain that this man wouldn’t give a damn—because he was absolutely confident about what he did know.
Sure enough, he merely cocked an eyebrow and asked, “Did The Times offer an explanation for the swell in your numbers?”
“It did not. But did you know that Americans often study in your Inns of Court? Five men who signed our Declaration of Independence were educated at the Middle Temple.”
She nearly clapped a hand over her mouth. She had gone from inappropriate to objectionable; American independence was hardly a subject about which English aristocrats were enthusiastic.
She dropped a hasty curtsy. “If you’ll excuse me, sir, I shall go fetch my next dance partner.”
Laughter gleamed in his dark eyes. “If I might offer you some advice, no English gentleman wishes to be ‘fetched.’”
His evident amusement eased her nervousness. “My experience of London is not great, yet I have already discovered that there are any number of English gentlemen eager to be ‘fetched,’” she said, giving him a wide smile before she remembered that young ladies weren’t supposed to do more than demurely curl their lips.
“I surmise that you are referring to gentlemen who seek to enrich themselves by marrying a woman in possession of a fortune. Are there no adventurers of that kind in America?”
His tone made it clear that he was not a fortune-hunter. Merry had grown tired of gentlemen subtly informing her that they were willing to overlook her “unfortunate” nationality.
“Certainly there are,” she said. “But at home they aren’t so condescending. Here they act as if they’re doing one a favor, whereas to my mind the truth is quite the reverse.”
“You make a good point,” he conceded.
“Though I’m not being entirely fair. English gentlemen have titles for sale, and even my cousins—who are Cabots and quite powerful in their own right—don’t have anything attached to their name that directs people to bow and scrape before them.”
I gather you are not inclined to bow and scrape before a titled gentleman?”
He didn’t seem in the least critical, which was a relief. “I am not. I prefer to judge a man on his accomplishments and character. If you have a title yourself, sir, I apologize for being so direct.”
He smiled, which she took to mean that he was untitled. “Have you met many peers…any dukes, for example?”
“I have met the Duke of Villiers, and just last evening, the Prince of Wales.” Merry lowered her voice to a whisper. “To be frank, each seemed to feel that his titles made him as special as a five-legged calf. Though, to be fair, the duke might expect reverence on the basis of his coat alone.”
His bark of laughter appeared to surprise him as much as it did her. “Now if you will excuse me, sir, I must return to the ballroom.” Merry was fairly certain that Cedric had no concerns about her faithfulness, but there was no reason to cause a scandal by being caught in a tête-à-tête.

ARC REVIEW City of Light by Keri Arthur

First in the new series by Keri Arthur, City of Light, it gave me that same feeling I had when I first picked up a Kate Daniels book; the feeling of daaammmnnn this is gonna be good. I am very happy with this book. I am very picky when it comes to first person urban fantasy, especially when the series revolves around one person, after a while the series gets repetitive. So I generally like series that focus on new people every book. There are few I make exception for, this is going to be one of them. Okay now for the reasons I liked this... tortured strong heroine with a hubris of saving children and can talk to ghosts, sexy angry alpha cat shifter who as much as he doesn't want to feels strongly protective toward the heroine, vampires that are more like zombies and wild animals put together, mysterious killer magical entities with an agenda of their own. And not to leave out the awesome writing style of Keri Arthur who ended the book with a conclusion but just enough to have you begging for more.

The story starts a hundred years after the end of the race wars. A war started by the shifters and one that the shifters ended by dropping bombs. The bombs unfortunately were strong enough to rip a holes to another place a magical place where ethereal beings can cross over and kill. This is what stopped the war the shifters and humans finally had to set aside their problems and protect each other from the vampires who come out at night and the wraiths who are the only ones who can cross the rifts and kill whoever they pass, or are they?

Tiger is the only left of her kind, she is a genetically engineered dechet; a humanoid crossed with shifter and vampire DNA created to defeat the shifters. She lives alone in the underground bunker where she lived and where she should have died. Her only companions are her little ones, the ghosts of the children who did die the day the shifters gassed the bunker. Tig's life is about to be turned upside down. Finding a child and a half dead shifter in the outskirts of town at dusk wasn't her idea of fun, she would have left the shifter if it had not been for the little girl's insistence. In doing so she sets off a series of events she can't stop she can only plow forward and hope she survives. The little girl, Penny, is a survivor of a wraith attack, it killed bother her parents leaving only her and her Uncle Jonas. Penny however was taken by the wraiths and changes somehow when Jonas finally found and saved her. Penny isn't the first she is only one of twelve children taken by the wraiths. An earth witch, Nuri has told Tig that she is the only one who can save these children. But Tig is a dechet, the most hated species to shifters and Tig has a hard time trusting this band of mercenary shifters. But agreeing to help because it's children, and she vowed never to let any more children die if she can help it. The only shifter half willing to help her is Jonas, but his hatred of her kind keeps her quiet about who and what she really is. Which only confuses her more because in all her years she has never felt this way about a shifter before. But things only get worse when she discovers she is not the only dechet still alive and that her old friend and lover may have a hand in the disappearance of the children.

Overall, I loved this book, action packed, emotional turmoil, sex. I can't wait for more.

ARC REVIEW Mercury Striking by Rebecca Zanetti

**WARNING** this is not your typical Rebecca Zanetti Romance.

This is a swerve off the typical path of Zanetti romance, and that is welcome. Officially the first book of the Scorpius Syndrome series, there is a prequel novella that appeared in the anthology On the Hunt. I loved that novella, now Mercury Striking, I didn't love it as much as the novella. This one it's a mix of The Walking Dead and a non religious version of The Stand. Jax Mercury didn't quite appeal to me as much as Rebecca's other heroes, but he fits with the setting and the situation and if he had been any different he wouldn't have made sense. I did love Lynne, she is brilliant, strong, and very caring; she is exactly what Jax needed to be a great leader. Rebecca as always is brilliant with her writing, her characters and her storyline.

This is the way the world ends

This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
Not with a bang but a whimper.

The Hollow Men
by T.S. Elliot

Stephen King started his epic novel, The Stand, with the end of T.S. Elliot's poem The Hollow Men. I think it applies here also. Or any dystopian novel that is brought on by a virus/bacteria. Six months is how long it took the Scorpius bacteria to wipe out 90 percent of the population. The remain one percent are either sociopaths, killing indiscriminately and most are crazed almost like zombies; they haven't been infected yet or actually survived the initial fever and now are carriers. Lynne Harmony is such a survivor, she is also unique. Lynne was the head of her department in the CDC and when the Scorpius bacteria first fell to Earth in an asteroid she was the first to run tests on it, mutate it. She also was the one to discover the only way to keep the bacteria at bay was Vitamin B. Lynne, however, is in trouble she escaped from the CDC and the Government and went looking for a secret lab that was said to have created a chemical that made the human body produce vitamin B naturally in high enough quantities to keep the bacteria at bay. Lynne's only hope is finding the lab before the government and her only hope in achieving any of this is an ex-special forces/ex-gang member Jax Mercury.

Jax Mercury made his way home to L.A. after the U.S. pulled back all the troops. What Jax found was a gang ridden war zone with civilians caught in the middle. Jax made a stand and pulled together everyone who wanted and took over a portion of L.A. He created almost a safe haven but for the ripper attacks and the gang members constantly trying to steal their supplies.Jax is a complex hero with a deeply scarred past and an arch nemesis out to kill him and everyone close to him.  Finding Lynne Harmony was a curse and a blessing. Lynne was the hope these people needed if they weren't so afraid of her, she also had trouble following close behind her that could endanger Jax's people.

A lot happens in the book, gunfights, love, death, suspense, and psychics. Overall, I am very pleased with the book and I can't wait for Raze's book.

Camden McMahon has never trusted witches. He’s willing to temporarily overlook his animosity and work with a coven in order to put an end to the threat against his family. Then he meets the daughter of their high priestess, a gifted witch in her own right—and Camden’s fated mate.

Selene Trevil has always treasured the magic which flows through her veins. Until it calls out to Camden and marks him as her intended consort. A relationship between a shifter and a witch is unheard of, but resisting his pull is impossible.

Will Camden and Selene have to bear the burden of the past? Or will their love be enough to overcome all the obstacles standing in their way?

bear the burden teaser two.jpg

This is the third book in the McMahon Clan series and hopefully not the last. The third and final triplet Camden finally meets his fated mate never expecting she is a witch. The animosity between witches and shifter goes way back but the prophesized mating between a witch and a shifter has finally come true. The mating sealed even before they technically meet. Camden and Selene have a rough road ahead of them but their love is strong and true.

It's a quick and easy read. I love Rochelle Paige's narrative with both first person POV. It's one of the few that I do love. Camden after watching his two brothers and their mates knows not to make that same mistakes and the whole thing is much easier for him and Selene. The whole story arc comes to a conclusion thanks to Selene being a kick ass uber powerful witch. All I have to say, Thank God, Rochelle Paige is going to write Carrick's book. (Thank you)

AP- Excerpt.jpg
His hands were hot as they gripped my upper thighs, his fingers spreading me open. He blew against my lips before running his tongue up and down my clit. My eyes clenched tight as my body went taut at the feel of his mouth on me.
“Watch me as I taste you for the first time, Selene.”
My eyes popped open at his command, but it was difficult to keep them that way when his tongue flicked out and stroked my clit. I plunged my hands into his hair, trying to bring his face even closer to me. Stiffening his tongue, he buried it deep inside me, tongue-fucking me until I was writhing with need before he replaced it with two fingers. His fingers were so large, they stretched me wide as he rubbed against my G-spot.
“So close,” I muttered, feeling my climax starting to build. My legs tightened against his head as I tried to gain the added pressure I needed to set me off.
Then he wrapped his lips around my clit and sucked hard before gently biting down. The combination of pain and pleasure was enough to throw me over the edge. I screamed as my climax hit my body and held his head to me so I could grind my hips against his mouth.
Camden gave me a few last licks before rubbing his mouth along my thigh. “My mate has the sweetest pussy."

I absolutely adore reading - always have and always will. My friends growing up used to tease me when I would trail after them, trying to read and walk at the same time. If I have downtime, odds are you will find me reading or writing.

I am the mother of two wonderful sons who have inspired me to chase my dream of being an author. I want them to learn from me that you can live your dream as long as you are willing to work for it.

When I told my mom that my new year's resolution was to self-publish a book in 2013, she pretty much told me "About time!"

ARC REVIEW Atrophy by Jess Anastasi

I'm always on the look for a new sci-fi romance to fall in love with. This is the book. I surprised myself with how much I enjoyed this book. The best way I can think to describe it, it's like a darker twisted version of Firefly meets Invasion of the Body Snatchers (both of which I loved). The characters, like with those in Firefly, are all unique and have their own little quirks that makes them charismatic and well just plain likeable. The storyline is captivating and full of mystery and conspiracy, the love story is an easy one, instalove, with an overprotective big brother standing in the way.

The Imojenna is a cargo ship, she is also falling apart. But Captain  Rian Sherron uses her for his own reasons, if only the crew could keep it in one piece. At the beginning of the book she is falling apart and the stubborn AI is ready to dump the cargo hold to keep it on one piece. Their only solution is to land on the nearest planet and make repairs. Unfortunately said planet is Erebus a prison planet, fortunately Rian has connections being an ex-military and a War Hero.

Inmate Tannin Everette has spent the last twelve years of his life on the prison planet of Erebus for a crime that he didn't commit. Tannin learned early on he can have an easy life, well for an inmate at least, by volunteering to do all the menial admin tasks no one else wants to do. In doing this he was in the right place at the right time to overhear the plans for a cargo ship to land for repairs. Tannin sees his opportunity to escape and against all odds was able to escape the inescapable prison planet.

Zahli Sherron is the heart of the crew, little sister to Rian and the money manager she also finds them all their jobs. Zahli is also the first one to meet Tannin, he helps her escape the guard who tricked her and tried to rape her. Zahli in truth saves herself by killing the guard but escapes with Tannin's help. When later she finds him stowed away on board the ship she agrees to help him escape. Rian catches him and the only thing keeping him from turning the ship around and turning him in is the fact he likes the challenge and outwitting the system. As it turns out Tannin ends up being more helpful than any of them imagined. During Tannin's twelve years in Erebus and working in the admin building he because a genius computer wiz. Tannin and Zahli fall in love at first sight, but Rian's no fraternization rule gets in the way especially after Rian kind of threatens Tannin with his freedom if he messes around with Zahli.

The dilapidated ship and her crew are more than they seem. Tannin soon realizes that the cargo business is more of a cover for their real purpose which is to stop a shapeshifting alien race from taking over. I won't go to much more into because I don't want any spoilers but damn. Overall this was a really good book and I am really looking forward to more books especially Rian's.

ARC REVIEW Hard and Fast by Raven Scott

Okay so I love Raven Scott. I have read the first book in the Fortis series and this one did not disappoint. It's not necessary to read the first book in the series, each is a stand alone.

I fell in love with Alex, she is a one woman storm, she is an automotive engineer out to design the best most reliable electric production car to use a minimal amount of gas possible. Alex has done it, she has developed the engine she has the batteries all they have to do is reveal the final product. The only problem is the engine is top secret and the computer servers that held all the information was hacked into, luckily Fortis was on the job hacker/computer wiz extraordinaire Lucas has already shut them out once and now the rest of the forces at Fortis is tracking down who was behind the attempt at corporate espionage. The issues slowly escalate from hacking to fire and more.

Lucas definitely wasn't looking for anything more than a good time, but after once kiss with the delectable Alex has him wishing for more and willing to risk his life for her. Alex being in a male dominated career is no stranger to playboys and she didn't want to fall for Lucas but he shows her she can be loved just as she is.

Overall, this was a great read, you can tell Raven Scott put a lot of effort into her research and I for one always appreciate that. This book is great for me I love cars and I love Alex being the engineer behind the electric car. I also am a little bit of a geek and love a big and strong hacker.

I found myself in a dense forest, surrounded by a menagerie of animals as I ran swiftly through the trees. There were three black bears behind me, but I didn’t feel as though they were chasing me. It felt like they were urging me forward. To my left was a lioness, her fur rubbing along my legs every once in awhile as she tried to speed me along. And to my right was a sleek, gray wolf, whose dark eyes gleamed in the moonlight.
My heart raced, but not from exertion—it was from excitement. With a profound certainty, I knew someone was waiting for me around the next corner. Someone who was everything to me. I dug deep and sped up, running faster than I’d ever moved before, desperate to reach him. When I rounded the bend, another black bear was there, and it felt like I’d been struck by lightning.
Electricity crackled along my skin and arced from my fingertips to the bear’s chest in a spark of white light. Suddenly, he shifted from bear to man; a completely naked man with every tanned inch of his six-foot-two frame exposed to my sight. A swirl of wind ruffled his jet black hair before sweeping toward me and pushing me forward. His whiskey-colored eyes were filled with wonder as he stared at me. I stumbled slightly in my rush to reach him and he leapt forward to catch me.
As soon as his fingertips touched my skin, I felt my magic blast through me with more power than I’d ever experienced before. It flowed from me to him, a warm glow of light surrounding us. I didn’t know his name or who he was, but I felt a certainty to the depths of my soul that he was the person I’d been searching for. A vortex of wind wrapped around us, lifting us both off our feet for a moment, and I felt another surge of power deep within myself.
When he reached the ground again, I wrapped my hands around his biceps to steady myself and almost jerked away at the searing heat of his skin. Tearing my gaze from his, I glanced down and watched as a mark appeared around the bicep of his right arm. It spread slowly across his skin, similar to a tribal tattoo, with the phases of the moon woven into it. They were familiar to me, the same shapes I saw every day—the symbols on the charms hanging from the bracelet on my left ankle.
It was then I realized who this man was. He was the one person in the world the Goddess intended to stand by my side—my consort.

AP - about the author.jpg

I absolutely adore reading - always have and always will. My friends growing up used to tease me when I would trail after them, trying to read and walk at the same time. If I have downtime, odds are you will find me reading or writing.
I am the mother of two wonderful sons who have inspired me to chase my dream of being an author. I want them to learn from me that you can live your dream as long as you are willing to work for it.
When I told my mom that my new year's resolution was to self-publish a book in 2013, she pretty much told me "About time!"
